HOLLYWOOD COMES
TO THE ALLEY
Arizona Production Studio Opens
It’s Doors
There’s a bit of Hollywood migrating to the valley as Arizona Virtual Studios formally announces their grand opening. This facility promises to be a premiere Arizona production studio. Matthew Dearing, creative director, has a vision to bring a new level of entertainment to the Arizona community. “This is exactly what we need to give the industry a boost,” explains Dearing. “Plenty of people want to film in an Arizona production studio, but don’t have the right facility. We’re providing that.” Impending projects through this Arizona production studio include a sketch comedy show for adults, an educational television show for kids titled “Imagination Station”, and a feature film in 2009.
This impressive space has two green screens and a white screen studio. With 18 foot ceilings and 8,000 square feet, the possibilities are limitless. Head computer graphics editor and cinematographer John Koop is excited about the beginning of this incredible Arizona production studio. “We’ve already booked several commercials and infomercials after being open for less than a week,” Koop says with a smile. “It’s just remarkable.”
With the promise of these new projects comes a demand for trained Arizona actors. The Dearing Acting Studio, Arizona’s premiere film acting instructors, have bridged the gap to fill that void. “We’ve created this space to be a place where great Arizona actors, film makers and producers can meet”, says Matthew Dearing. The Dearing Acting Studio offers a wide variety of on-going classes to help Arizona actors prepare for opportunities in the entertainment industry. “This is going to be a place where dynamic projects are happening on a daily basis,” Dearing explains. “Our Arizona actors will be here, and they’ll be ready.”
With the combined efforts of our newest Arizona production studio and trained Arizona actors, the industry may finally see the change it’s been looking for. The valley can expect a lot of great entertainment coming from the combined efforts of Arizona Virtual Studios and the Dearing Acting Studio. “We’re all very excited about what this means for Arizona, both for the economy and the arts,” says Dearing.

"Kids In America"
The Dearing Acting Studio is excited and proud to announce that
instructor Kimberly Dearing has been asked to play the part of Betsy
in "Kids In America" distributed by Universal Studios.
Kimberly has been training locally at the Dearing Acting Studio and is
also a head instructor of our youth/teen program. During this project,
Kimberly worked along side Topher Grace and Anna Farris to create the
hottest new comedy coming to theatres in 2009!
For this audition, Kimberly spent a great deal of time in preparation. “I took a few private lessons with Matthew Dearing, my brother and the head instructor of Dearing Acting Studio. He was wonderful at helping me truly discover my character.”
After her audition for local casting director Faith Hibbs Clark, Kimberly got a call from her agent, telling her she’d booked the job. Kim was exuberant. “ I got signed for two weeks on-set with this incredible cast,” she recalls. “I was so excited to be eligible for my SAG card too!”
Kim describes her character as "larger-than-life funny!” She thanks her family, friends and the studio for their constant support. Lastly, Kim encourages new actors in the valley to persist in their craft. “Believe in yourself and never give up. Remember that you should constantly be working on your craft. If you are always training, you will be ready when your big audition comes!”

Dearing Acting Studio is proud to support local film maker Laurin Yazzie in his first film "The Incentive". Yazzie began his script writing career at age 6. "I would stare at the cover of 'Alien' by James Cameron," says Yazzie with a smile. "I begged my dad to let me rent it and he finally said yes, provided I promised not to have nightmares. I was absolutely blown away. I'd never seen a strong female lead before. That movie was an inspiration for me to start creating scripts." Laurin also worked on the feature "Redemption" (SAG) by Robert Conway, premiering this fall.
Laurin would like to personally thank everyone who made this
film possible. " I have to say, special thanks go to Justin Anderson (1st assistant director), Yosef Rodel (production assistant & member of IFP/PHX), Bethany Armas (hair/makeup), The Dearing Acting Studio, Clint James and his wife Kim for making the drive from Los Angeles, and my friends and family for their support!" Past productions filmed at the Dearing Acting Studio include "New Teacher" and "Last Day of Summer". The Dearing Acting Studio is committed to continually helping film makers! We believe your efforts are putting Arizona "on the map" as a viable talent base.
"The experience filming at Dearing Acting Studio was just amazing, " says Yazzie. "I couldn't be happier!" The Dearing Acting Studio would like to thank the cast and crew for their professionalism. Keep your eyes open for the finished product on our website. We look forward to supporting great films in the community in the years to come. Thanks to everyone who made this film possible!!
